From Robin Miller's column on ESPN:

Attendance for Friday's Brickyard practice session is better than any Indy pole day since 1996.

Although IMS never announces attendance, there haven't been 20,000 for any Indy pole day since the split...

That is a lie.

Leave alone all the other years and their horrible weather, but in 1998 pole day attendance was estimated at 80,000 or 90,000. I specifically remember one (former) Star employee who claimed the attendance was only good because of the good weather despite never blaming bad weather for bad attendance.

But we all know that Robin has an agenda. The real question is whether or not ESPN will permit such lies. This isn't a matter of RM voicing one of his bile-filled opinions that appear to be supported by his CART salary. This is a fact. And it is a lie.

ESPN? Is this acceptable to you?

It claims 35,000 in 1997 pole day attendance.

Must have been a fluff piece for the IRL.

So let me get this straight.
You started a thread about somebody supporting lies. And made a claim that there were 80,000 to 90,000 people at the '98 quals. But now the number has dropped to 35,000 for the year before?

Get a grip, winnie. I said that it was a lie to say "there haven't been 20,000 for any Indy pole day since the split".

For some reason you & bird are more interested in my 80,000 - 90,000 figure than RM's lie. I guess you're just pursuing that which supports your agenda.

Okay then, consider my 1998 figure to be 20,000. RM says there hasn't been that many since the split. I say that's a lie.

And ESPN supports it.

My whole point is that it is not that hard to show how bad R.Miller is. But to use a figure more crazy that his 20,000 just does not make sense.
