  • Does IRL Still Have "Road To Indy" Rel. W/ USAC?

Didn't the IRL have something like that a few years ago? USAC sprint and silver crown champ getting some cash or a test or something with the IRL?

If they still have it, I guess it's now the road to Indy via Brickyard 400. Tracy Hines will be in USAC Silver Crown car on Thursday night and then in a NASCAR Truck on Friday night. Looks like another one going south... Can't blame him though.

    KICKASS!!!

According to his website he's piloting a third MOPAR entry for Jim Smith.
This is a great opportunity for a great driver.
The IRL can kiss my ass each & every time a USAC Champion moves south to make it to the next level.
Tracy is a great guy & an incredible driver with outstanding chassis knowledge.
It was a pleasure to work with him for so many years, he taught me things that some of the other high profile shoes I worked with weren't even aware of.

    Good job Tracy!

The road to Indy patch and stickers are still on USAC cars and uniforms. That's the biggest joke I have seen.
I would think by now that this administration would have a clue as to what it takes to get the job done. So, Get-er-done!!!!!

And the IRL hats in victory lane are a joke at best.

The "Road to Indy" program should be sponsored by Brazillian Bank.

          They just renamed it.

It's now called "Relatives to Indy."

              IRL IndyCar Series - $20,317,830

It really is sad. When you read or hear interviews with young open wheel hot shoes, the future they speak about is nascar. It seems that none of them think Indy or Indy Cars.
Open major wheel racing is next to irrelevant and who will the future competiters be?

They think that way because they know they need money to get into the IRL. They don't need money to get into NASCAR. Besides they look at JJ Yeley and know if he can't get a ride in the IRL that there's no hope for them.

We were discussing this same thing a few weeks ago in the office. It seems that if you add up the payout, the numbers don't always match what the posted awards are for a nwc race.

Our subject was that the drivers are not getting paid as much money as the posted winnings would seem to indicate. The reward seems to be in being a cup driver.
