  • Difference between OW and NASCAR

quote from Al Unser Jr taken from Indyracing.com
UNSER: I'd just like to make one more statement. In the Indy cars, we are running out there over 220-plus miles an hour. Me and Sam Hornish went around there for the last 25, 30 laps, never touched each other one bit, and that was the closest wheel?to?wheel racing that I think you'll ever see in the country today. And so, you know, there's fenders on those cars down south for a reason, and that's to rub on each other. What we do here is close wheel?to?wheel racing, a non-contact sport so that we can find out who the best man is and not run into each other and have a demo derby. So thank you. (Applause)

This is the Al Unser jr. some people had being so washed up he was supposed to be looking to the rocking chair to retire to. Seems they were wrong on that one too.

Remember in Indy cars, rubbing ain't racin' rubbin is crashin'.

Racing is what we saw at Michigan and Chicagoland and the NASCAR fans who went to the stock car races at those tracks but not the IRL need to take a course in remedial racing to learn what great racing is all about.

Why even mention NASCAR?? Is the IRL and it's fans unable to see themselves except in the reflection of NASCAR??

The point being (besides beyond your grasp) why did he need to talk about NASCAR at all?? The IRL had a great race (according to those here, I got bored and turned if off after a few laps), and what does little Al do, start comparing it to a stock car race. You don't hear NASCAR drivers after a race comparing their racing to other series???

                              It would seem so Leroy.
Try to remember it's "just a few" not "the" IRL and "the" fans.
