  • Carb day was a bust...

Last year our ticket order was delayed while they waited for Carb day tickets to be printed. Carb morning traffic was a nightmare consequently we totally missed the practice session. When we finally arrived at our so called "guaranteed, three day pass, Main Gate" parking, the lot was full. They tried to turn us away but when I protested they let us park along the access road which didn't make me feel very secure. We couldn't get close enough to see any of the pit stop competition and had no interest in the "Poisonous" concert.
The only redemption was the Freedom 100 and the 4 wide finish but it wasn't worth the hassle.
Now it is happening again... Get me once, shame on you. Get me twice shame on me. Get me three times? Ain't gonna happen.
All roads lead to Indy except for State Road 39 which goes to Martinsville.

I could join the "Mile High Club" without ever leaving my home.

What rout do you take in to the track?

We got there hassle free. When will people learn, the earlier the better, just like any other sporting event?

The thing that bothered me the most was them selling our " pre-paid guaranteed" parking spot. Needless to say we were in our seats by 7 on Race day.

Why buy prepaid for Carb Day? it's stupid to do anyways...if it rains you're paying for something you'll never see. Same thing for Legends day....why pay ahead of time for something you may have to sit in the rain to do? It doesn't cost you anything extra to get there an hour early and pay the day of......all the complaining for something you could entirely avoid and have the same or better results.....

If you pre-pay when renewing race tickets, you get a discount on Carb Day tix. Not a huge discount, but since I'm almost certain to attend it's worth it, especially since I can usually sell them at the same reduced rate if I don't attend.

carb day has taken on a life of its own, fueled by drugs, alcohol, nudity, chaos, alcohol, drugs, swat police, and alcohol. And ironically, every one seems to drive themselves, if this isn't you'r type of scene, get there very early and sit in the stands.

Or park in a gravel lot on 16th.

If you try to get into 16th street traffic on carb day, yes it is a mess. Get off 465 at 10th St and turn left onto Polco St, there won't be any traffic and you can park in the gravel lot on 16th like midtown said.

That's what we did and had no troubles. I think we got there around 9:30 or so.

Carb morning traffic was a nightmare consequently we totally missed the practice session. Earlier arrival, different routes, and a different parking spot are all options you control that could change that.

                      What is happening again?

My response isn't meant to be offensive in any way, but I'm not gathering your point here, is this IMS's fault?

Its funny, carb day has FINALLY become what many days at the track used to be.

Yes, nudity, alcohol, drugs, chaos.....those are all NEW at the track!

                              Bwahahahaha

there used to be all that WITHOUT a band! And it used to be SEVERAL days in the month. Trust me when I say that the Snake Pit has never been populated entirely by gear heads!

are people now getting upset that too many people are going to the track again? There is too much going on? Too much fun?
