  • IndyCar Kickstarter campaign - "The Story of Us"

Mods, feel free to delete if this is a duplicate post.

I just came across a Kickstarter campaign for an IndyCar documentary called "The Story of Us." There's only seven days left to fund the project, but has anyone else heard about this? Is anyone familiar with the project's owner, William Hamby? Unfortunately, the Kickstarter page doesn't really answer any questions about how your money is going to be used, so I find it difficult to justify funding.

I hope that money is going to Antti Kalhola to make a 45 minute video.
"It takes a special level of incompetance to make a schedule this terrible. America is possibly the greatest country in the world overall for tracks. To make a bad schedule in America takes effort. A special kind of effort. A kind of effort that only IndyCar could come up with."

I'm assuming its a documentary but it never mentions it. Your correct pretty poorly worded
I'd rather have 10% of the world interested in the ICS than 50% of US that NASCAR currently has

Very half-assed, wouldn't trust it. Who makes a doc for $2500?

            Hello,
I am William Hamby. As you know, I own and operate American Openwheel Racing 1911 to present. All of the information needed about our film project is in the KICKSTARTER. We have had some very generous donations to the project and they have helped tremendously in getting us to a point where we can do what needs to be done to film the show and edit it with and decency. We are currently working with Indianapolis Motor Speedway and I.M.S. Productions to get a shoot date in for this year and to document the month of May. It is my honour to bring attention to this project and people like Rick Paul and his son Tim Paul of

Screaming Monkey Racing who believe in the project and donate to it to see it through. We (I) have 40 people in the industry who are willing and able to work with us to get the job done. You would be amazed at what ingenuity and 2500 dollars can accomplish. Just to name a few, 1983 500 winner Ton Sneva, 1992 Polesitter Roberto Guerrero, Team Penske front man Nigel Beresford, Team penske icon Chuck Sprague, Gary Gerould, Vincent Granatelli, Bill DeBosick of Team Penske, Scott Gauger, Willy T. Ribbs, the first winner in the I.R.L'S history Buzz Calkins, Simon Pagenaud, designer of the 1992 500 winner Alan Mertens, Bronti Tagliani........need i go on?

Our KICKSTARTER will apparently fall short but the effort will not. The film will be made and it will be made with love and a caring that few would normally give it. I'm sure Antti Kalhola would do a fine job but this isn't his field is it? He is clearly dedicated to Formula 1 and other forms of racing. It was brought to my attention that our project was being discussed here and that I perhaps needed to answer some questions. So if you have anything to ask please feel free to do so. Not everyone will like or support the idea of someone they do not know making a movie about something that they love.... or know nothing about. The opinions expressed above are just that....opinions. You are welcome to yours, as I am to mine.

            William Hamby
