  • TF members in the metro-Indy area-keep safe!

I've been following today's weather through The Weather Channel, some Chicago radio stations & WIBC online-looks like you are having a very dangerous time right now! Get to a safe place if you're not there and put a helmet on if you have one! Look out for each other if you can. Again, protect yourselves,it sounds bad up there. I live in GA,so I know what tornadoes are like.

The tornado touch-downs have been in Lebanon and Kokomo, north of Indy. Watch is supposed to last until 8 p.m.
There's really no such thing as Gary the Moose, Sybil.

65-degrees with 30-mph winds gusting to 40-mph, rain, tornado sirens going off and now sunshine in Southport. We seem to be currently in between the 2-major storms right now.

And I took a diect-hit from the September '02 tornado so I 'am' paying attention.
a bad day at the race track beats a good day at work

It's a 2.5 mile oval of asphalt-covered bricks, used just three times a year. Yet it hascome to be the worldwide symbol of auto racing. More than that, it is our city's beacon to the entire globe, the main reason everyone knows there is an Indianapolis somewhere in the vast interior of America.

It was about as windy as a popcorn fart here. The worse thing about the whole day is that they killed the live USGP formula 1 race to show Angela Buchman over-dramatically talking about the weather for 2.5 hours. It pissed me off fairly good, although she's not too bad to look at.

In Chicago, all for network stations covered the weather from about noon until after 4 p.m., so, no F1 race on TV.

They even emptied the stands at the Bears game in Soldier Field for about 1 hour and 45 minutes.

And they simulcast ol' Angie on all three over-the-air channels (13.1, 13.2, and 13.3) so there was no escape. They could have bumped the F1 race to one of those, or even just swapped the audio on one so you could listen to the F1 race being shown in that tiny box. The other killer was that they let the entire one-hour pre-race show play completely uninterrupted, and cut in right after the last commercial break before the start of the race. At least let us see the start, the storm was a long way away at that point.

The part that grinds my gears is knowing that if they were showing a Colts game, they never would have done it like that...they would have broken in a few times, timed carefully so fans didn't miss the action, done some weather at halftime, and used a crawl at the bottom of the screen the rest of the time and directed people to one of the other channels. But since it was F1 and it would get 1/20th the complaints, they just crapped on it.

They had split screens here in Louisville on most of the day, part football and part tornadoes. What a combination!
