  • Dixon on Letterman [VIDEO]

I must say, we couldn't really ask for a better champion: Witty, well spoken, and (fairly) young.

And good on David for continuing to share his passion for racing and giving the sport's stars wider exposure.

I was going to post this earlier but Indycar was able to get him on a lot of stuff this week. I know he did something FOX earlier today. I believe he's getting much more coverage than RHR.
I'd rather have 10% of the world interested in the ICS than 50% of US that NASCAR currently has

I found it kinda funny that he didn't know Tasmanian Devils were real animals!

especially considering what part of the world he's from

I also found that strange. Overall I thought he did a great job on Letterman, I found him fun to watch. He mentioned that they hit a top speed of 250 mph on the straights at Indy back in 2003. I had no idea they were going that fast then. They ran about 232 averages in Quals, but I would have thought the top speed for a 232 lap would be low 240's.

Sure pounds out the questions, does David. Who cares what his favourite animal is? Feels all unscripted really.

don't you all find that no matter what IndyCar driver is shown on a show like this, they all represent the sport amazingly well?? They are all class acts.

Not to be negative but its absolutely amazing to me how a guy like Letterman who has been involved in racing for so many years is so effin clueless about it. He comes off as knowing relatively nothing about it. His interviews with drivers are often hard to watch because of his evident lack of knowledge.

On a positive note, nice to see Dixon get some exposure. His character has shown alot more during the last several years and its nice to see your champion getting some recognition. A real class act and the best driver of his generation and one of the very best in the world currently.
Whatever the right thing to do is.....expect IndyCar to do the opposite.
                  Current Top 5 Drivers: 1) Dixon 2) Newgarden 3) Pagenaud 4) Power 5) Rahal

It always comes off to me that Dave is asking the questions that people with no knowledge of racing would ask because most of his viewers don't.
                    Just wait 'till next year!

that's the way I always saw it too- I would imagine he understands racing quite well- heck I just watched the video of him interviewing Mario in T3 at the 500 in 1971!

BTW, I always felt Dave knew quite a bit about wildlife too- he always seems to have some pretty knowledgeable questions for Jack Hannah

I agree. I always go out of my way to watch Dave when drivers are on. Every once in awhile he throws something in that makes it clear he's an actual fan...like when Vettel was on I think he asked about DRS and KERS.

Yes they are. And when you see them at the autograph tent it is remarkable how fit and skinny they are. Reinforces how old and fat I am.

I believe that's it as well. I would imagine Dave is pretty knowledgeable about racing after all these years but he tries to act like a newbie recognizing a lot of his viewers don't know much
