Based on a Racer article (sorry, can't link)
Since many of teams are installing fresh bullets for Fontana, a significant number of driver's engines wil not count towards the manufacturer's championship.
Anybody whose on engine 6 or greater doesn't count for mfg champ points:
Neither Helio Castoneves nor Scott Dixon ponts will count toward mfg champ. In fact, at this point, eight cars will not count toward mfg champ.
OTOH, Chevy has only 1 ineligible to Honda's 7 ineligible, so Chevy has a big advantage. Even those numbers are not set in stone as an engine change before the race could omit others from the mfg chase.
Currently eligible for Chevy:
Hunter-Reay, Allmendinger, Servia, Viso, Saavedra, Bourdais, Kanaan, Power, Carpenter, Andretti, Hinchcliffe, de Silvestro.
Honda:
Wilson, Vautier, Kimball, Hildebrand
