Departments were very separated at a newspaper. About all us printers seen were what is called a makeup editor. He tells the printer where to put the story, and if needed, trims it to fit.

Tho, I did work as a copyboy at The Chicago Daily News. So, got to meet all the editorial staff. Best I remember about that time was meeting Sydney Harris and Tony Wietzel. I enjoyed going to Broadway shows in Chicago. Thru one of those two, I could get really good tickets to those shows, I had to pay for tickets, but the seats were in the 11th row on the aisle. Plus a sports editor gave me two season passes to Raceway Park, could go to races on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Got those for three years.
