  • What do you think Dario is thinking?

It could look bad to make the question today, but a consideration should give it: yesterday's crash could put an end to the career of Franchitti? I do not mean just in the true sense of the word, I'm sure that next year we'll see him at the start of the first race of the season...but last win of Franchitti is a year and a half ago...do you think this crash can mark his final decline?

Honestly, I was suspecting he might be considering retiring after that crash. He's proven all he can in the car, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him call it quits after that.

Might be for the best in the end.

no way. He's too class to end his career with a crash. Plus he's already signed for 2014.

Sometimes I don't think it's as much about Dario being in decline as much as it is other teams catching up. the new car really leveld the playing field.

But, to answer the question, Dario is on the downside of his career for sure, but I think he still has some good runs left in him.

No way have we seen the last of him at Indy. Maybe he won't run full time, but I'm honestly not sure why a few guys still do.

We all get little warnings in life......Dario has nothing left to prove.

Totally my thoughts. No way will he ever retire fully. I'm sure he'll move onto a great sports car career when he hangs up his helmet for open wheel.

I'm of the opinion that yesterday was the last time he will race an IndyCar outside of Indianapolis. With Ganassi supposedly looking to add another car to its sportscar program, that seems like a natural transition for Dario at this point.

I'm going to go with this. Dario to sports cars, paired with Marino at Le Mans at some point. Indy-only a time or three. Done.

I didn't want to be the one to say it, but I sure am thinking it. After a shunt like that, he may decide to call it a career. But who knows. People who are brave enough to strap into those things are brave enough to get back in, even after a crash like that.

No it doesn't. Ease up. Racing and the fans have gotten to sensitve, easily-offended, and namby-pamby.

Were you there in 1982 when Fletcher's guys were literally painting over Gordon Smiley's name in Gasoline Alley and an on the hauler after hirign Ziggy Snider, same day as Gordon's death? I was. Had beers with many crews guys and drivers over at the Speedway Motel hours afterward, all sad, but ready for the next day.

Legitimate question. Does not "look bad." It is racing. And I am for fans having any opinion or ansking any question they want. What I don't like, however, is making this sport something it isn't. Sensitive, easily-offended types best stick to lawn bowling or polite games of shuffleboard.

I do agree he may go to some sports cars. But according to an article being shared on Twitter Ganasi wants to leave Grand Am.
I'd love to see Dario running as Porsche factory driver *-*

Actually Gordon Smiley was killed right in front of me, the first car I ever saw on the track at IMS.

If nothing else, Dario isn't a quitter.

Reminds me of Richard Petty. He told his wife he'd rase as long as it was fun.

After a particularly nasty crash, she met him at the infield hospital while he was on the table getting checked out.

Richard said she asked him "are you still having FUN?"
"If there are no dogs in Heaven, when I die I want to go where they go" Will Rodgers

I dream of a better world where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned.

Simple incompetence is a far more sinister force in the world than evil intent.
