    1. Glad to hear Dario is going to be okay. That was a scary accident that brought back memories of LV. My concern is on Dario's legs because the front of that car is almost completely gone and that seems to be where the catch fence did the most damage. Hope we see him back at Fontana. Also prayers for the fans. Looked like a lot debris got into the stands. Hope everyone there is okay.

    2. On that note, I am done with these Holmatro safety crews. Fire them. They are so incredibly slow at everything they do. Getting cars started, cleaning up accidents and even worse slow at getting to the aid of drivers in a serious accident. Pitiful bunch.

    3. I said back in 06-07 and I will say it again, Houston is one of the worst street circuits ive ever seen. Horrible track and part of me hopes this incident will hurt its chances of returning.

    4. I feel bad for Helio, that has to be horrible to deal with. Crap luck. Sounds harsh but again I stand by it, Helio did not and does not deserve this championship. While this was bad luck not of his doing, I could make the same argument that if Dixon didnt have the bad luck he's had this year (for several years rather), he'd be handily running away with this championship because Helio for the most part has run Mediocre most of the year. He just has.

    5. Dixon with two clutch race performances under heavy pressure and I expect the same at Fontana even though Penske will likely have a better car. Dixon raises his game under big pressure and thats part of the reason why he remains the best driver in this series. Its his championship to lose now.

    6. Helluva drive from Will Power, was on it from the get go and made some great overtakes including the one on Dixon. His win atleast gave Helio some hope at Fontana. -35 and it would be over realistically. Great all around performance from Will today. One of his better drives.

    7. Can someone please answer: How is a guy who races to 4th in points in a Dale Coyne entry not worthly of a top drive? Can someone please explain. Its so ridiculous. This right here it was makes me hope the Montoya deal blows up in Roger Penske's face. He has to show he's so much smarter than everyone else. He's picked drivers that just cant win championships, good drivers but not the best which he used to. Its so gutting to see Wilson drive his ass off in Dale Coyne equipment and continue to get the shaft. Chose Briscoe. Fail. Then chose Power over Wilson/RHR. Fail. Chose AJA over Wilson. Another fail. Keep it up Roger.

Whatever the right thing to do is.....expect IndyCar to do the opposite.
    Current Top 5 Drivers: 1) Dixon 2) Newgarden 3) Pagenaud 4) Power 5) Rahal

Holmatro slowness in responding may have been in part due to it being a fast, blind corner - they need to be sure no-one is barreling around the corner.

My prediction for next year is that enlight of Dario's accident today there will be an opening at Ganassi next year. I'm saying that Dario will retire at the end of the season and be an Indy only entrant for the Chipster from here on out. Then the Mayor will get the #10 car and will be Target's poster boy for their store expansion in the Canadian marketplace.

As has been noted elsewhere, Franchitti was clearly communicative, giving clear indication that he was okay, even if hurt. There was simply no need to rush out onto the track with cars still approaching the crash zone.

And keep in mind that in calling them "scrubs" here you have insulted Dr. Terry Trammel.

Agree. the safety crew have got to make sure the track is safe for them as well. A few seconds later and that Fire truck in the F1 race could have been taken by Vettel.

Bookmark this post for later, you might be on to something, but now is not the time.

I like the Houston circuit, its kind of an old school street circuit... and at least the pits are on the main straight! The racing would be helped by more mechanical diversity and spreading the cars out.
            Just wait 'till next year!

This is nowhere near the first time the Holmatro crew has been dog slow at what they do. They ALWAYS are and its just reached a boiling point for me today

With Ganassi moving to Honda next year I bet he would be a prime candidate. I figured Pagenaud had that all but his.

For those of you who do not know.
Rule number one for anyone responding to an accident, whether that's a car, fire, shooting etc accident, is to secure the accident scene so you don't have a second accident (more patients hurt).

Rule number one. No matter the situation.

I often agree with you but these comments are undeserved.

I have only once seen them respond with insufficient speed to an accident that clearly required fast action - and that case involved an unexpected equipment failure.

As others have noted, being right there on the scene instantaneously is not generally the best course of action. Acting TOO quickly creates more chaos and can lead to more injuries. The Holmatro Safety Crew responds in a MORE THAN ADEQUATE manner in 99% of all cases. But nobody is perfect.

The worst thing I have ever seen. Its all over, for me.

I thought Ganassi was Honda now and switching to Chevrolet in 2014?
