Just shows how out of touch Cavin is. Reported this morning in Q&A that he expects Kanaan to settle with KV.

Cavin also stated that there was no way that the road course race at IMS would be run during the month of May. He didn't think COTA would ever happen either.
The Associated Press has learned that Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan will not return to KV Racing next season and is finalizing a deal to join Chip Ganassi Racing.
AP link is broken. Honestly everyone thought he was staying with KV. I think either Chip got antsy with the Montoya to Penske signing, or Hinch resigned with Andretti already. John Lopes did say that even despite the loss of GoDaddy that they had like 3 other sponsors they were working on.
"If your car was a dog, then you had to figure it out and test your own limits. And we didn't go to a wind tunnel – we did it in the first turn at Indianapolis."
The biggest thing to me out of this is Kimball. He now has team mates who have a total of 77 AOW wins, 5 Indy 500 wins, and 7 championships. He needs to be a big sponge this year. I think he has massive amounts of potential, but if he can't start showing more this season or next, he may need to move on.

sorta lets you know how Chip rates Montoya vs Kanaan.
Pretty much tells me Kanaan had some sponsor money to bring and Montoya, caught off guard that he was being let go on the NASCAR side, found a ride without a check with an owner who said he wasn't going to field that 2 car unless he found a sponsor.
