This is a heads-up for those fans who may be away from their televisions but still want to watch the race live. NBC Sports Network now has an app for compatible phones and tablets that allows fans to watch NBCSN live on the go.

I am trying it out today with my 3G Droid X and it works but it is a bit blurry. I imagine a 4G connection would work much better.

My experience with that app is that it is ULTRA buggy. It seems like there is an update for it daily on Play Store, and every other one won't play video on my phone.

I tried watching the last 15 laps of the race using this app on iOS. The video took 3-4 tries at loading before it started to stream, but it looked great once it started (iPhone 5 w/ LTE on AT&T @ -85dBm).

The only problem then was that the app kept running a DirecTV NFL package ad over the video. The ad was 30 seconds long, the race would come back for 15 seconds, and then the ad would show again. After a few starts and stops with the app, I just gave up.

It's a good concept that I hope works as advertised some day, but the app is off of my phone for now until I hear about it working well sometime in the future.

NBC Sports Live Extra works great via an actual web browser on a laptop...I've never used it on a mobile device. The only issue is that you have to watch the same DirecTV commercials over and over and over, but you only see ads when you first start streaming and then during the regular breaks. They seem to have the timing down so that it comes back from commercial breaks perfectly. No complaints at all watching it on a laptop. It's too bad the mobile app doesn't work as well.
