  • Way to Go Will Power!

Did anyone notice how relaxed he looked in his car before the race? Compare him to the others and you see why he has won so many races!

The race was gifted to him. I could have won that race, being in that position. He is washed up and obsolete / End Thread.

...well he did need a car to get a penalty and bump another car to the side to win the race.

Dario said that he tried to talk to Will about it after the race and Will pretty much brushed him off. Dario said he would have been okay had he just said he was trying to keep him behind and just overdrove a bit in the corner but he didnt even get that. Will's not the first driver and wont be the last who always blames somebody else and has very little accountability. Thats twice this weekend too. The Viso thing in practice was a bit ridiculous IMO. I think over time though you start to see a common denominator of Will Power when it comes to drivers having issues with each other. More seem to have issues with him than the other way around.
Whatever the right thing to do is.....expect IndyCar to do the opposite.
      Current Top 5 Drivers: 1) Dixon 2) Newgarden 3) Pagenaud 4) Power 5) Rahal

I don't know a lot of good drivers have screwed up being in second and fighting for the lead... Of course not as often as they have screwed up being in first.

Like Scott did on Sunday afternoon.

Gotta admit, I had a different outlook about him before the week-end started compared to now that the week-end has ended.

At least he won't be winless this year. Power had an odd season this year and he is lucky that Dixon was penalized but a win is a win. Good for him and it'll be interesting to see how he does the rest of the season. Maybe he can sneak in another win or two.

I wonder...I feel like WP is either a driver you really like or really don't like. He's weird, quirky and unpredictable, and some people find that a turnoff. I happen to particularly like him. I think he's hilarious and an interesting competitor. I have to wonder if this were a driver that wasn't so polarizing, like a Dan Wheldon, if people would be saying the race was "gifted" to him, instead of just being happy he was finally rewarded after a really rough season. I'm thinking of Indy 500 2011, for example. I don't remember hearing much complaint when JR crashed that Dan won. Rather, people were genuinely happy that after his rough year and working so hard during a tough race, he came out the victor, and at the same time expressed respectful condolences to JR for the ending. Granted, JR wasn't penalized like Scott in Sonoma, he just lost it.

This is of course meant in no disrespect to the deceased. I'm sure there's a much better example to my point out there.

your hatred of Power aside... was his move on Dario THAT bad? Lord knows Dario has NEVER ridden somebody off their line so he could win...

Agreed and I think much of this has to do with the fact that many see him as a road/street course specialist and has lost the championship three consecutive seasons on the last race which all happen to be ovals. His lack of quality Indy finishes despite being on Penske has also made many sour when it comes to Will Power.

Some on here are die hard traditionalist that see Indy as the quickest way to respect. The second way is to win a championship all the while winning at a large variety of tracks much like Dario and RHR have done the past 3 years. Power hasn't done neither of those so to the traditionalist Will Power is some what of a "fake" representative of what Indycar is or should be.

Those are just my thoughts and observations though.

Don't think you could have qualified 3rd, put yourself in second to inherit the lead, or held off Justin Wilson on that restart...so no you would not have won. Had Dixon not been that deep in his stall he would have been able to get out clean, it was his and his crews mistake, he could have avoided the incident and penalty, so it wasn't a gift.

In 2011 He lost because Anna crashed into him in the pits....he had the car to beat that day (BTW that was the last race the counted before Las Vegas)

I think part of being a fan of a driver or team means you can easily become polarized against the opposition. On another note, just imagine transporting the internet back to the 60s and 70s and think how some guys who are virtual gods now would have been castigated. (And they may have been, but from fan to fan in the stands or a bar, not world wide on the net).

he won only because he had decided before hand not to do his winky-twink jump from the car
