#18 Coyne driver for Sonoma?

Anybody know who's driving the #18 in next Sunday's race ?Ryu Hirakawa has tested, but do we know who has the race seat?Thx!

Nothing confirmed yet, Hirakawa said it was just a test and he had a conflict on race day. I wouldn't be surprised if he got the race though, maybe waiting on the check to clear for the race before they announce anything by saying it was only a test.

I highly doubt Hirakawa has a conflict - there was originally a Super Formula race scheduled for this weekend, but it was cancelled. Still, his latest Twitter posts seem to deny that he'll be racing at Sonoma.

I do NOT think, based on what I've read, that Hirakawa will be in the car. He stated that he only had money for the test. I personally think either Mike Conway or Ana Beatriz will be in the car. I guess we'll find out on Wednesday.

A West Coast fan tweeted Bia and asked her if she'd be there...she replied that no, she would not.

After Sonoma, the Coyne team has Stefan Wilson scheduled in the No. 18 for Baltimore, Conway for Houston and Mann for the season finale at Fontana.

I think the Italian Grey & the Whippet are very cool too... but the dog racing industry (thankfully) doesn't throw those breeds away! For a very small, tax deductible fee, I can get a pure breed, ex racer as my family pet. Since my Sammy died, I also foster (when I can...) & get the greys ready for their "forever" homes. Hard giving them up, but I get to experience a variety of dogs... basically for free.

There is a number of reasons that the ride could have been turned down.

Dan Wheldon turned down a few offers after he won the 500 in 2011 as accepting the wrong ride could be worse than sitting on the sidelines.

True, and he did just race at Kansas this past weekend I believe. With that said, his opportunities may be limited in the future and this car has won a race and ran well at both toronto and Detroit.

The split from BHA doesn't seem that cut and dry. Both driver and owner have left the door open for a return in 14, and comments from both have indicated Tag might still be under contract through the end of the season. Might be blocked by BHA from taking another ride, similar to Tracy in 08.

IMO, Alex will be transitioning to sports cars & still might show up to race RC's in NASCAR.

Herta had said Tag could be back for at least one race in 2013, but BHA released their driver line up for the rest of the season showing that Filippi & Hildebrand will be the only drivers in the #98 for the rest of the season. JMO, but unless Tag secures a mega primary sponsor his ICS days at BHA are over.
