  • OT: But must see...Lotus 49 at cota

Anyone can appreciate this. Those who have driven the Grand Prix Legends sim and tried not to crash it can appreciate it more...

Not to worry, we got some serious Lotus lovin' geezers around here...you'll see...

I'm a cushion kickin' dirt tracker myself...those skills would suit themselves well to that car, no?

Great driving and fun to watch. Interesting to see how comfortable Rossi was with the Lotus.
        And don't forget the heat!

Judging by his skill in operating it, he didn't really know.

I thought I head more than a little grinding/clunking too... Neat video - I didn't watch the whole thing - so maybe it said toward the end - but how fast was he running - it did not sound like he was really "on it" - but it didn't sound like he was just cruising either....

That is TOO awesome!! The Lotus is perfect and I imagine that TK, Dixon and all the rest of the ICS drivers are chomping at the bit to have a race in Austin. Me, too!

I don't know about that particular lap but he went faster in the Lotus than he did the ZR-1 they brought along to compare it to.

This came from the article that Road&Track claimed that Rossi was the next Mario... only I don't recall hearing any grinding noises as Mario was coming into turn 3 back in 1967. But hey maybe it's a Lotus thing because I do remember some grinding noises when Mario went through turn 4 in a lotus in 1969 during practice.

Remarkable. He really had to work that big round steering wheel to stay on the track....not to mention modulate the throttle, brakes and shifter.

Why is the turning right to go left?

Now that we have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt (about 30 years worth) that open wheel cars will go faster with wing-induced down force, maybe we could take 'em off and watch the drivers ply their trade with 800 hp and no grip.

IIRC, a 49 is about 3lbs per hp, vs about 6lbs per hp for a ZR1.

If they did that what would be left to compain about? oh ya, no track records, 2013 cars were 70mph faster than current cars, 160mph at Indy, slower than NASCAR, yadda yadda yadda
