  • Special Exhibit: 500-Winning Cars At IMS Museum March 20!

Last week, I went to the museum, and they were getting all the NASCAR stuff, F1 cars, and basically anything that wasn't a 500 winner of there in anticipation for bringing in all the available Indy 500 winners for the Centennial. Well, it sounds like come March 20, we're in for a treat!

As of right now, it is planned to display 66 Indy 500-winning cars on the museum floor, which will represent 70 wins. Roger Penske will be sending all his winning cars to the Museum.

On Sunday, March 20, the general public is invited to come out between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Drivers will be in attendance from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Some of the drivers scheduled to attend the event include Rick Mears, Bobby Unser, Arie Luyendyk, Al Unser Jr., Dario Franchitti and Gil de Ferran.
    Anyone else planning on going?

I'd love to. I'm only 90 miles away so maybe the wife and I can make a day of it. :izod2

A media-only event will be conducted on Saturday, followed by a free event for members of the Indianapolis community at the Hall of Fame Museum on Sunday, March 20. This is above and beyond. My compliments to the people behind-the-scenes making this happen - it is appreciated!

If you have never met these legendary drivers, this is your opportunity to do so in one of the most unique atmospheres in all of sports.

The more I think about it, the more this is going to be a chance to see certain cars that we may not get many chances to see again. This is going to be an amazing Centennial.

I was in there today and did the grounds tour as well. They're not done yet, but I really enjoyed seeing all of the race winners in there for this year. Its worth it because there are cars in there that are not part of the speedway's collection. I hope to see it again when they have the display completed.

Here are some pictures from the museum this past Friday. Paul had asked me if I could try to get a good shot of the Wildcat rear end but sadly I could not get very close to it. Any pics of the

Now are they going to enforce that silly rule that you can't take photos of the Marlboro cars? The Penske Museum in Phoenix had that rule, as did the Marlboro Experience tents at IMS last year.
