If one of the Wild Card Outsiders wins the Vegas race and takes the prize how rampant will be the claims that he or she was given "The Call?"

Didn't RB throw it out as a challenge? If so any "call" would go to the IndyCar drivers.
Wouldn't it make more headlines if one of the outsiders won?

I believe the Challenge has been issued with the real assumption it won't have to be paid out. So I don't expect there will be 'a call' to give anyone the chance or excuse to claim there was 'a call'. And if someone by chance does take the Challenge and win it, I suspect some heads will roll at 16th & Georgetown the following Monday morning.
a bad day at the race track beats a good day at work
Yep, and all The Usual Suspects would start their bleating that open-wheel racing is finished; and the stick-and-ball columnists who know only a little NASCAR and that the Indianapolis 500 still exists would write how doooooooooooooooooooommmed this once great and legendary sport has become.
BUT, if one of our regulars beats a well-known name outsider by, oh, .5437 seconds at the line or so...
"I didn't hear a single comment about airboxes, "carbashians", or how terrible the car looked. I did see dozens and dozens of little kids in awe of the speed and how cool the cars looked. We should learn from our children." --Danny Noonan
can we please QUIT with trying to make Indycar into NASCAR ? I am so sick of trying to become something I absolutely LOATHE
BSJ take a big ol' deep breath. I started this thread for fun because of some of the ironies I noted the last couple of days with the Lucky Dog stuff and the $5 mill bonus which reminds me of the old NASCAR "No Bull 5" or whatever it was called.
Yes, this stuff reeks of NASCARization and The Call falls right into that category. I love races or games that have fairy tale endings like Trevor Bayne winning the Daytona 500 (which I believe was totally legit). I think it would be huge headlines if someone took the Vegas bonus, but I don't see how The Call allegations wouldn't hit the minute it happened.

The big name outsiders show up. Danica is given the call with a "spinner" motor. Win win! NASCAR says thanks.
I say if that happens we call it the final shot in the foot and just pack it in.

I wouldn't mind Levi Jones getting some positive press...
How about Steve Buckwalter?
