  • Profile story of Tom Carnegie from 1999

After hearing the news of Tom's passing, I dug into my archives to find a story I wrote in 1999. I was cheered as I recalled the day we visited, so I decided to post the story at www.daveargabright.com. Just look for the link on the top navigation bar.

He was indeed a fine man.

    Thanks for the link.
Some fans claim one series or another runs "real race cars." What's everybody else running, fake race cars?

      Dave, as always, good stuff.

It just won't be the same without him any more.

Oh, man; now I've gotta read it. Thanks, Dave!

EDIT: I had NO IDEA he grew up near Kansas City. Did a quick kcstar.com search and found this:

William Jewell College is a very well-known and respected private school here. Wow!
"I didn't hear a single comment about airboxes, "carbashians", or how terrible the car looked. I did see dozens and dozens of little kids in awe of the speed and how cool the cars looked. We should learn from our children."
