  • Replacement Parts and Cars in 2011

Will there be enough cars and parts to get us through the year? At some point Dallara will have to stop making them. For example, say KV goes on a carbon fiber confetti rampage. Will they be SOL?
Get your head out of your past!!!

I guess I just assumed that Dallara would still be willing to sell parts. I suppose its possible that the lead time may increase for delivery, but I would think that Dallara would be happy to continue taking KV's money.

Toward the end of the season, I'd bet teams with spare parts and even spare tubs would be very happy to unload them to KV before they become obsolete.

My question, with Honda's current motor being used for it's last time in 2011, can or will Honda make the motor more affordable, especially at Indy? I'd love to see more one off's at Indy and throughout 2011.
        God speed!

Regardless of when the lump's last race is, it still needs to be rebuilt and they still need to provide a presumably well-trained, well-paid engineer to babysit the lump at the track. That costs money so I just don't see Honda dropping the lease costs.

I thought I read somewhere, probably was TSO, that engine and tire lease costs will be the same as last year.

You are correct. 930,000 for the engine lease and 225,000 for the tires. So, your team monies cover that bill.I read a interview from Cotman and someone asked him on the savings on the new car and he said 40%. He went onto say you would still spend that 40% except it would be on something else.Exactly, if they have it to spend they will.
