  • The Official Hotel of Indycar?

Starwood Hotels? never heard of em. I dont believe, but then again I didn't research it.

    Per http://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com...rticleid=67717

The IndyCar Series is close to finalizing a multiyear agreement with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide that will give the sanctioning body its first official hotel partner. The deal, which sources valued between $400,000 and $600,000 annually, makes Starwood the official hotel and resort of IZOD Indycar Series

Starwood is one the the worlds largest hotel properties chains. Radisson, Sheraton are just a few of their properties.... Surprised it's such a low dollar figure though.

I am sure all the IZOD people like to tavel in style. Maybe all the rooms will be comped for all the drivers, crews, etc. or some kind of reimbursment plan at the end of the year like rewards. I have NO idea how the hotel business works so I probably shouldnt even guess. But this could be worth a lot more. go getem openwheelers.

Sheraton and Westin are their two brands you're most likely to recognize. They also own Le Meridien, W, Four Points, and a few other niche brands. This is a solid brand. I also wonder if part of this deal is some really friendly rates for series and team personnel when travelling on series and team business.

And while another ~$500K may not radically change the bottom line, it ain't nothing. It all helps.

And who knows? Make it a good experience and down the road there are all sorts of opportunities.

Starwood... isn't that the chain started by Ernest Borgnine?

my guess is if they're only paying a half a milliion along with comping rooms for drivers and everyone just like the above poster suggested. There's no way RB allows a sponsorship deal that cheap unless it comes with a lot more than a check.

it said the deal is worth $$xxxxx, not that anyone is paying anyone.

btw - starwood has the best gyms/fitness facilities for any hotel i have ever stayed at.

                  this is good.

Good news! I really hope they somehow work with the W hotels with cross-promotion. People who stay at W hotels are a dream market for sponsors - young, affluent, and hip.

Yes, The Westin where the IndyCar Series is holding their drivers and owners meeting in Downtown Indy. I am glad that I work Bell and Valet there tomorrow.
It's a 2.5 mile oval of asphalt-covered bricks, used just three times a year. Yet it hascome to be the worldwide symbol of auto racing. More than that, it is our city's beacon to the entire globe, the main reason everyone knows there is an Indianapolis somewhere in the vast interior of America.

yes! I work for the Westin Indianapolis and its a true honor to be their official hotel! We all have to have on our name tags our "passion" Many employees have things like "my kids" or "music" or even "Colts football" Me? "IndyCar" And its a blast when the owners/drivers check in and they see that!
