Not sure what forum this belongs in. Anyone else glad that the racing season starts tonight with Supercross?

I second that emotion! I am watching tonight. To top it off, me and a buddy went to a motorcycle show today and checked out the new bikes!

Stadium... outdoor... it's all good. I'm a 2-wheel guy at heart... Cut my teeth on 70's motocross. I still remember how I felt when I said goodbye to my old tried and true Combat Wombat and welcomed a new Yamaha YZ-B monoshock to the garage. I was amazed that they could make a bike with more than 4 inches of rear travel... I also still have nightmares of the evil 490 that I was stupid enough to try and tame several years later. My wrists still hurt just thinking about that monster...

The sport is healthy... AMA Supercross saw attendance numbers average 46,329 over 17 events last year... On TV, it averaged 200,000 viewers over 18 broadcasts on Speed, and also pulled over 1 million viewers during nine hours of programming on CBS.

With Bubba and Chad back in the mix, Dungey might have a tough time repeating... And Canard is gonna be a blast to watch.

Thanks for the info. During the broadcast I was wondering how many people watch. I had to stay up until 1:30 to catch the main but was glad I did!

I also enjoyed your comments on the evolution of the suspension on dirt bikes. While I was at the bike show yesterday I looked at the new 'crossers (was afraid to throw my leg over them for fear I couldn't get it back!) and wished I could take one out for a ride in an open field...I'm sure they are so much better than the dirt bikes of my youth it would be eye opening!

What struck me while watching this was during one race the commentators made the race much more exciting. They kept saying the rider in second, "had everything under control," making you believe that it was just a matter of time before he would make a pass for the lead. We almost never hear anything like that in IndyCar.
Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary… that's what gets you.

Keep in mind they have two former champions who are articulate enough to work the booth.

I liked that the Top 4 were all riding different manufacturers (Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda) and the Top 5 are probably the biggest five talents in the series. $10 tix for the Indy race in March are crucial.
