  • Rossiter set for Lotus Indy chance

  • #2
Lotus Motorsport director Claudio Berro said that he hoped Rossiter can be part of the company's IndyCar programme in 2011.
"I would like to have James racing for us in IndyCar," he said. "It could happen this season, though most likely only on the road and street tracks."
Frankly I don't know where Lotus is getting all this motorsport money? At this rate, PT won't have a car to drive even if sponsorship comes through.
"If your car was a dog, then you had to figure it out and test your own limits. And we didn't go to a wind tunnel – we did it in the first turn at Indianapolis."

We'll see what happens. Last year, in Brazil, KV had all Rossiter stuff, scooters, etc. all ready, but I guess the check didn't clear and he didn't race.

He has done anything for the last 4 years? He was an also-ran in World Series by Renault in 2006, a BAR test driver for a few years, and ran 3 ALMS races in 2008. Rust?

Sounds like it'd be twisties-only, in any case. Similiar to the Adam Carroll deal with Andretti last year, perhaps?

Seems out of the blue to me, but Proton money seems to spread widely and if they want a has been test driver in the RC/SC for a season I guess they get it. That leaves car empty on all the ovals so they need an oval expert for the rest of the season. Someone like DW maybe? I know latest rumor is with Andretti but Ovals only at KV might fit him well.
You can be a critical fan without being a Critic... Or can you? Quit your b'tchn and enjoy the racing :D

I don't think that is fair. F1 is all about equipment, if you are not in the best equipment , you don't score points. Why do you think the constructors championship is more important than the drivers championship?

Just wanted to say that I would LOVE for James Rossiter to race the Lotus IndyCar. I saw some complaints on this board about the lack of driver which would actually do something for Lotus. Well, here you have it. It doesn't get any more Lotus than James Rossiter. Unless you would have Jim Clark race for them. Rossiter is a very talented driver too. Seems like 2011 is gonna be another upgrade on the talent level of the IndyCar Series. Awesome.

                    That is not a question.

However, a many are questioning where Group Lotus will find the vast sums needed to fund their new F1 effort, their involvement in the IICS (and other racing ventures) and their announced intentions to totally remake and re-position the company by launching five all-new cars within the next few years.

Sato got a podium, so he doesn't qualify for reject status.
Insert something witty here. I don't care.

I wonder if he'll make an Indy attempt if this goes through. There's plenty of practice (including ROP) and it's an RC-enough type track (little banking, long straights) that it's an ideal oval to start the transition on.

Might Tracy be the oval driver for this car?
Some fans claim one series or another runs "real race cars." What's everybody else running, fake race cars?

Dany Bahar brought lots of investors with him when he became CEO of Group Lotus. That's why he was appointed as CEO, because he had the vision and the investors.
