Why didn't Ganassi pick Sam Schmidt? Sam has ran his stuff at Indy for the pas two years, and Schmidt has been his quasi Lights team for a while. You know they are capable of handling it. Thehave run cars at Indy for a while and used to field a full time team. They have alse just moved into a bigger nad nicer shop.

was sam interested? your post appears to make the assumption that he was.

I would think if they made the move they would prefer to do it on their own"I would like to be able to admire a person's opinions as I would their dog - without being expected to take it home with me." ---- Frank A. Clark

Because this is Chip's team, probably nearly completely. This is not another team simply running the cars, this is entirely a Ganassi team."If your car was a dog, then you had to figure it out and test your own limits. And we didn't go to a wind tunnel – we did it in the first turn at Indianapolis."

Chip has had multiple IndyCar, GrandAM and NASCAR teams for years. Many of the people have probably been with him for some time and there are many that he wants to keep but hasn't been able to promote. So the additional two cars gives him the chance to promote from within and not lose good people who have developed in his organization to other teams."You can't arrest those guys, they're folk heroes"
"They're criminals"
"Well most folk heroes started out as criminals"

I read a quote in one of the articles that said they would still assist Sam with his Indy 500 entry.Life's too short to worry/Life's too long to wait
Too short not to love everybody/Life's too long to hate
