  • Dan Wheldon 2011???

Of all the drivers talked about in the offseason, what is up with him?

Did a search and came up with a NASCAR Sprint Cup driver profile page, which is OLD I believe, but no word on where he will end up.

    Anything?

I like Dan, a lot, but to be honest, he hasn't had a good season since he left AGR for TCGR. All quiet on the Wheldon front it woiuld seem. I have a hunch he may be sitting on the sidelines next season.

      Movie deal for his book?

To be truthful, I have known Dan since his rookie year, and is always the nicest guy, and very humble.

Veneers aside, I hope he lands a ride somewhere. Perhaps one of the Lotus rigs, which is why he is staying very quiet.

Hopefully something will happen. He is an excellent choice for a sponsor and he certainly hasn't forgotten how to drive.

I don't think he will be on the sidelines. Worst case I think he can go to Dale Coyne and do a really good job just like his fellow countryman Justin Wilson did when he was ride less.

Nobody thinking he might go back to AGR? Or does he want TK kind of money?

I'd imagine they'd have to find a sponsor for him and I'm sure it's hard enough for AGR to find money for Marco and Ryan right now. I'm sure Wheldon has been humbled enough that he would work cheap though.

Maybe Michael should make a call to Klein Tools and Jim Beam and see if they can re-kindle that old flame. If I were Michael I'd tell them "In 2012 we are sticking with Honda and Penske and Ganassi are going with Chevy.........you remember what happened last time Dan drove for Honda's top team!"

When you talk of deserving drivers, there are none more so than:

                  Wheldon
                  Kanaan
                  Castroneves
                  Franchitti
                  Dixon

And its based on what the've done in the series. End of story.

I would love to see DW join HVM and be an oval mentor to Simona.

I wonder if we just won't see him in a one-off for Indy next year.

Dan belongs in an Indy car. Very personable, good with the fans, represents his sponsors well, loves Indy, and can drive a race car. I hope he finds a solid ride.

I think so, too, but the prospects aren't looking too hot right now. Hope that changes!

None of my favourites. Ok, Castroneves should belong in the Series.

Really? He finished 2nd and 4th twice in the final standings his 3 years with Cheep and won 6 races. Certainly not as dominant as he was at AGR, granted, but I can think of a lot of drivers who would happily endure some bad seasons like that.
