We had 17 in 2010. In 2011, we'll likely have 16 or 17. Edmonton sounds like its back on, and I'm pretty confident in Vegas for the finale.

The difference here is no doubt more about the power than the downforce. On tight point-and-squirt tracks mechanical grip becomes more important, anyway.

But I still think the car has far too much downforce on the big ovals. Or, alternatively, the big ovals we run are not suitable for these cars. If they can run around the bottom of a track, something is wrong. And CART/CC also got to that point with their later ovals. I think it was at Las Vegas that they were literally riding the white line all the way around. They fans should have booed them out of the place.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be Mr. Obvious. I just got excited about the video.

And the same can be said about oval and road course racing, CART, CCWS or Indycar.
Yup. I can still hear Paul Page's voice coming back from 3 straight commercial breaks saying, "Nothing has changed in the fight since we left you."

We always tend to look back and remember the great stuff and forget the boring stuff. Not every CART race from 1998 was this exciting. I guess what I'm getting at is we set ourselves up to be continually dissapointed when we unrealistically look back nostalgically. Sometimes the "Good old days" weren't always quite as good as we remember them.

Secondly, these were awesomely powerful turbocharged beasts, not overly winged rev-limited pigs. Let's hope Randy and Co. know the difference.

Thirdly, no gimmicks. No freaking push to pass. Just raw horsepower and guts.

This is what Indy Car should look like on a road course.

I believe that is correct... hoop-98 may correct me on this, but I believe the downforce / horspower ratios are close to what they were in '92 - '93 in CART, with their multiple engine and chassis combinations.

Seems to me that F1 made a positive change recently by reducing wing-induced DF in favor of DF generated by the undertray - the smaller rear wings and larger front ones seem to have increased passing and even created some side-by-side scenarios. Of course the fans hated the look at first

Didn't they cancel this project? Issues with venting the exhaust from cars in an indoor track?

Still, would be nice in rainy areas.

I shall echo your sentiments by saying that if we meet up somewhere, I will buy you a beer.
