  • Parade... meet rain.

I'm happy that Chevy is back in the series and it's a plus that Lotus has jumped in as well. But the fact is that whether they have one spec car or 10 car/engine combos, they're still going to running the majority of parades, uh I mean races, on street/road courses - the majority of which aren't fit to watch - again, unless you like parades, and oh so exciting passes in the pits - woo hoo!

Multiple manufacturers and mostly ovals and I'd be jumping up and down too. But unfortunately, the street parades won't be much different than they are now... sorry I can't as excited as everybody else about this.

I will concede that it will be better for Indy - unless of course one team is so dominant that there's really no competition - but hey, that's never happen before has it? Robin would say those were the glory days!

You are obviously a wonderfully open minded individual! Thanks for your thoughtful comments!

What gives me hope is Infineon. The ultimate parade track had passing thanks to the vast differences that Firestone gave the Redwall and Blackwall tires for that race.

If Firestone can duplicate that for 2011 then we COULD even see a pass or two for the lead at such tracks (unless Willy P goes invincible on us again for 2011).

I’m not saying every race will not be follow the leader but with different engines, aero kits, you may have cars with different power outputs, different handling characteristics(setups) which may cause disadvantages/advantages based on course makeup and location.

Watch how the current Indycar Champion and his future teammate were unable to hold their lines in the parade. BTW, a couple of these competitors had the same chassis/engine.

Nonsense. 50 HP Push to Pass. 'Nuff Said.

Well this is the second thread of negativity that waited till the other positive threads died down. All shrouded in "Oh we have great news but it's not goona help" More doom and gloom.

I'll probably wait until after I see the new cars race before I start crying about how awful things are. Perhaps you should try it too?

As long as there isn't an over-abundance of street courses, then I don't see what the problem is. For one of the rare times
in the history of the sport, we have balance (equal oval/twisty) on the schedule.

Ha! Except it wasn't. There were 12 twisties and only 6 ovals in 1995. And I was buying my
first IRL cap because, as a predominately oval fan, I was sick of the overloaded twisty schedule.

F1 seems to have NO TROUBLE with 10 different engine/chassis combos running on ONLY road courses.

I noticed the other day driving in town that I actually turn left and right...not just left. Isn't that nuts?
