  • Ya know....a Kanaan v.s. Danica rivalry might just be what IndyCar needs

After seeing Danica's comments and Kanaan's subsequent tweet....

The popular yet "spoiled" Danica v.s. the popular and wily yet sometimes arrogant Kanaan could play out verrrry well. Kind of a Jeff Gordon v.s. Dale Earnhardt-esque rivalry (forgive me for comparing Danica to Gordon, for her lack of wins, but you know what I mean)

    Thoughts?

I'm with you, plus as Robin Miller always says, "hate in racing isn't a bad thing". Apparently not everybody agrees though:

      A rivalry?
One has won a bunch of races, championships and is a racer.
The other has won once , sans championship , looks to not be here long, and is a driver.
imo, even PT Barnum couldnt sell ticket one for that.

That 'blog' is 5 months old and written by Anthony Schoettle, who never has anything positive to write about IndyCar.

What would be so great about a rivalry that only IndyCar fans are aware of? Is that tiny audience going to watch even more intently? Are you going to promote it in hopes of gaining fans? "Come and see the battle between Danica who you've heard of and seen all over the place and her former teammate who you couldn't pick out of a crowd if your life depended on it"
"You can't arrest those guys, they're folk heroes"
          "They're criminals"
"Well most folk heroes started out as criminals"

It wouldn't be just IndyCar fans knowing about it. Danica get's all the attention like it or not. SO if she is fighting with someone they will cover it.

Had TK been asked if he considered Danica a teammate or a rival, I'm sure he would have given the famous Niki Lauda answer.

              "Neither."

Rivalries are fine but one starting out on the basis of what we have just heard bring out only words that
should not be said and do nothing for the racing, supporters or fans.

I can't think of anything more lame than a manufactured rivalry.

Why don't you take a poll in Grand Central Station how many people saw her have a towel thrown at her face, I bet you people would look at you quizzically.

Thoughts? Well, until Kanaan finds another ride, a rivalry w/Danica is moot...

Racing doesn't know how to have rivalries any longer. It would be great for the sport but it isn't going to happen.
"Try some of these before or after your statements if you are not presenting them as facts. Things like - "In my opinion", or "I think that", JHMO, IMHO, IMO, JMO... Your opinions are not (necessarily) fact. That would clear things up some." - Seadog 03/25/2010 11:40am So the above is JMO.

Pretty sure what we saw at Homestead and other races things year was not manufactured.
