I like to talk about Racing & Rant about Commercials, why because they are irritating...Then again so am I.

It jumped the shark a LONG time ago. I don't think I could name a winner since Carrie Underwood.

I'm no American Idol apologist, but last year's season finale dipped 18% in the ratings, down to 24.2 Million viewers. It may be on the decline, but that show has had a good run with killer ratings for a long time. I should be a part of such a failed business venture.

I'll readily admit I hate that show (and the majority of the pop music industry these days), so I am biased about it.

I think I've only watched it once in the entire time its been on and even then it wasn't intended. I was proud of that for the longest time. I can give them their props, I hadn't seen the viewership number. That's still a strong viewership record for a drop of 18% in the ratings.

Glad you can make such a well rounded judgment about a show based on one unintended viewing. I can do with or without American Idol, but I have enjoyed it to some degree in the past. My wife and I usually don't watch until they get rid of the auditions and have 10-12 finalists. To act like the show has no value, is rather silly, you might not like it (and that is fine) but it appears many people do enjoy the show and several fine singers have been discovered: Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, David Cook, and Chris Daughtry are four I believe most people will agree have talent.

Antoine Dodson should sing the anthem at next year's 500.
Insert something witty here. I don't care.

As if my opinion really amounts to anything in the grand scheme of things regarding that show. They've done just fine without me over the years.

I never said it didn't have any value to anyone. I won't deny that talent has been found. Obviously, Underwood has done quite well for herself as has Clarkson and that Lambert guy. I'll give props to Daughtry (IMO, one of the best that came from that show, and was even featured on one of Sevendust's [my favorite band] recent albums). I'll stick with hating most of the pop music industry these days.

Good luck to Mr. Tyler. I can't say I like his National Anthem renditions.

I've never seen one episode of American Idol and despite never seeing one show I know that I don't like or care for it. For those that do, great but it's not for me. I don't believe either that there's been any Idol winners or even participants that I can say I enjoy their music. Has there been any heavy-metal, nu-metal contestants or winners?,...that's the music I typically listen to.

To the topic, I've always loved Aerosmith and Steven Tyler and they've put on some great concerts over the years. However after watching this video in addition to hearing his rendition of the National Anthem at Indy I'll say that perhaps he should stick to what made him famous and what he seems to have a talent for...and it's not singing the National Anthem.

Don't know what that has to do with anything "I'm no American Idol apologist" was what I said. I was just stating cold-hard numbers.
