  • Ideal 2011 IICS Driver Lineup

With silly season in full force, I'm curious who everyone would like to see in FT rides for 2011 in a realistic, but ideal situation. Just a few simple rules:
    1. 25 drivers
    2. try to limit "what if" circumstances (i.e.: Kasey Kahne if he been given the opportunity to make money in open-wheel 10 years ago...Kahne will be in NASCAR, let it go)
    3. Based on the current 2011 IICS schedule (not what you think it should be, all ovals or dirt or whatever)
    4. Do not worry about IICS team associations. (Drivers do not need to be assigned to owners/sponsors)
    5. Money is not an issue (all drivers created equally regarding funding)
    6. If a driver is contracted to another series in 2011, dont include him/her
    7. Don't include fantasy Indy 500 one-offs (i.e. Tony Stewart, Michael Schumacher)
    8. USAC drivers who have no open wheel experience are not allowed. When I say open wheel, I mean IICS, FIL, ChampCar, F3000, Star Mazda, et al. Not trying to get into semantics of what is open wheel, just trying to be realistic about NEXT YEAR
    My List:
    1. Dario
    2. Power
    3. Dixon
    4. Helio
    5. Briscoe
    6. Kanaan
    7. RHR
    8. Marco
    9. Wheldon
    10. Danica
    11. J Wilson
    12. Meira
    13. Tagliani
    14. Simona
    15. G. Rahal
    16. Sato (yea he crashed, but he's entertaining and I like him)
    17. Tracy
    18. Junqueira
    19. Scheckter
    20. Townsend Bell
    21. Servia
    22. Hildebrand
    23. Lloyd
    24. Summerton
    25. Simon Pagenaud

    Just missed:
Hinchcliffe, Matos, Baguette, Romancini, Vernay, A. Carroll, Montagny, Antinucci, Viso, Carpenter (ovals only hurt his chances)...All I500 candidates and one-off participants

Decent mix of foreign and US, older vs. young up and coming drivers, experience on ovals vs. twisties, etc...

    Let the debating begin...

I'd rather not bother, only leads to disappointment.

No Conor Daly? Marco was 18 when he almost won the 500. I think Daly needs a shot before F1 takes him... even though I don't care much for his Dad.

              20) Lloyd
              21) Wilson
              22) Conway
              23) Baguette
              24) Simona

              26) Summerton
              27) Scheckter
              28) Meira

If Sarah Fisher is done full-time, I'd at least like her at Indy...

Also, one-offs such as Hamilton, Buddy Lazier, Junky, Bell, and John Andretti for Indy...

We'll see how many actually show, of that lot...
