  • Cafes do Brasil (Homestead) Official Race Thread

    Pre-Race Notes:

This is a race thread where we discuss the racing action on the track and is not meant to be a place to stand on your soapbox and preach, bicker, annoy, offend, etc.

If you want to talk about the politics of the series, feel free to make a single comment/observation/opinion and then go start a thread and discussion in the appropriate forum for further discussion (Perhaps the "IndyCar series direction discussion" forum or the "Racing Biz" forum).

If you want to talk about why ovals rule and road courses suck, or why road courses rule and ovals suck, make a single comment/observation/opinion and then go start a thread and discussion in the appropriate forum for further discussion.

If you want to talk about attendance/crowd, make a single comment/observation/opinion and then go start a thread and discussion in the appropriate forum for further discussion (Perhaps the "Racing Biz" forum)

I am not advocating censorship. I am advocating the proper use of this thread and the use of common courtesy and mutual respect.

In short, make an observation, ask a question, make a prediction, crack a joke, add some insight, and express an opinion, just don't dwell on it, beat a dead horse, and/or kill the buzz and drag the thread down for others

I was just looking at the sporting events that will be broadcast today in competition with the race. Homestead is on against the end of the Yankees-Boston baseball game, as much college football as you can eat and, as a treat for racing fans, Petit LeMans. And depending upon your location and interests, the race also might be competing with soccer and hockey.

It's going to be tough to find any viewers for this race. I don't know how well Homestead is lighted, but they might have done better scheduling this at night, or going up against the NFL games tomorrow.

It's a tough TV weekend, any way you look at it.

The race IS on at night. Versus pre-show starts at 6:00 PM. Where I live, it's dusk by then.

Oops! Right you are. I live in Seattle, and the race is on at 3 pm here. I wasn't thinking about the lighting conditions at the track.

I guess there wasn't much they could do about the scheduling, then, as long as they wanted to avoid the NFL games on Sunday.

I can't wait for the race to start. T-50 minutes until the broadcast starts.

                Me either.

I'm kind of sad in a way, as it's been a brilliant season on the whole and it'll be sad to see it done.

Then comes the six month wait until we're racing again - almost eight whole months until we see them race on an oval again!

Ready to go here! Looking forward to it. Rooting for Power but I like Dario too. Be interesting to see who wins the class B championship and then the best of the rest championship ...

                  A: Power v Franchitti

                  B. RHR v TK

                  C. Wheldon v Wilson

                  ... 7 minutes to go.

I really don't care who wins, but I hope it's a decent race, maybe one of the Panther cars can mix it up with red ones.

I thought it was a nice touch to give a little face time to the pit crews for each championship contending team.
