  • Never to early to start - Indy Tix

It's about time for me to begin firming up plans for this year , I need some help from the locals !

I buy tickets year to year , from a variety of sources . I've gotten seats ranging from good to REAL good so I'm not too concerned about that .

What I need help with ( as I've never payed too much attention to while I'm there ! ) is :

How high is too high ?

I usually bring at least one first timer. I will have 2 or 3 this year , in a party of 4 - 6 . I go for seats in "B","A", or the Paddock , so they can see the pre-race hoopla , as well as the pits and still have a decent race view .

Last year we were in Paddock DD , and the view was fine . How high in the double letters can I go before view gets reduced by the overhang on the Stands above ? The last time that happened to me was in '78 , and I can't find the stub so I don't remember how high we were .

Thanks for any help . I'm also looking at maybe springing for Penthouse tix in '03 , so any recomendations there will be appreciated as well !

We have 16 seats in the paddock. Rows LL and MM. From row LL you can see the giant tv screens from MM you have to lean way forward. Now I don't know if this is the way it is in all of the paddock seats but I would think it is very close. Stick to rows below LL in paddock and you should be fine.

You should be picky. There are some seats that are quite bad. If you have any questions feel free to ask me or probably most anyone on this forum. I have sat in many places for practice, qualifying and the race and location is very important.

I might have something for you on the 500.

BTW we also need to touch base about Homestead.
If the league is not going to shift their stance on the fees I would imagine all of the ovals would start being replaced by "chamber of commerce financially supported" TV infomercials dressed up like a car race for different city centers across the USA.
