So now Robin says that Tony George is paying Al Jr. 4 million dollars per year (up from the 3 million that R usually says Tony is paying Jr.) Who knows, in a few months, Robin will have Tony paying Al "A-Rod" type money.

If, in fact, TG pays Al's salary and is "shoping" Al around, why doesn't Al have a ride yet?

Perhaps money doesn't paper over everything.

There is another thread about why the dislike for Ganassi. I think this would definately make him even more popular with the IRL faithful. To have a team this year with a regular IRL driver would be wonderful. Hope it happens!

Absolutely! I personally do not like CHip but would welcome him and his class act of a team to the IRL. The more the merrier. Plus, some of our longtime IRL drivers do not have rides. This would be great! Hope it happens.
Team KELLEY ROCKS! Get well soon Jason! Three in top ten at KY. Way to go Scott, Al, and Tony!

My favorite line from the article:
                        George was unavailable for comment.

That piece was about as level-headed and balanced as Miller has ever been, even the Unser salary thing was presented in a straight forward manner. Perhaps Miller is beginning to see that he is running out of options from which to butter his bread! As for his comments regarding the CART meeting, this too is welcome news. It seems that Pook does have some control, and has changed the way CART does business and makes decisions. CART and it's owners seem to have been enlightened some too, since they saw fit to ignore Ford's offer to provide engines in 2003. I followed a link to Silly Pony's site today, and the only thing that bothers me about the whole situation is that they are still exploring the idea of engine enhancements, it's the same old argument that CART has to be better then everyone else, more technology advanced. The IRL engine formula isn't broke, it doesn't need fixing. Lets say that the IRL and CART use the same basic cars in 2003, which is another thing Pook is interested in, and say they "enhance" the engine (that we still don't know who will build) by 50 HP, would that be enough to cross the G loading threshold that occurred last year at Texas? In a column that I have written that will appear at openwheelracing.com on Monday I mention, in regard to G loading, that "I think that through horsepower and speed control measures, by wings and wickers, the IRL lucked out and escaped a problem that no one knew was possible." To me it seems that the IRL is right on in their speed control endeavors.

Now here is some food for thought, "disgusted" visited Manson's chat room last Wed. and mentioned that "we should watch ESPN.com on Friday because there would be some news that we all wanted to hear!" Now we have it. Could it be that he is the person he is rumored to be, look at his comment about Buddy's seat and my answer, has HE been here all the time, nah, "disgusted" is a PITA, but not that big a PITA? Maybe he just knows the BIG PITA?

Miller always said 3 - and the extra million comes from being the IRL poster boy at media events and IRL promotional events.

Why is this such a shock to people? Chip is up front, if someone pays the bills he will do it.

The other thing is Ganassi talks to a lot of people about a lot of different things. He admits to talking to Ward. If you ask the right questions he will admit to talking to Ray, Gidley, Hamilton, and a lot of other drivers. And that is what it is - talk.

No cash, no sponsor, no deal.
