  • My day at the track yesterday

It has been a long time since I have seen a day like I did yesterday.. there was a car going out to qualify until about 2 One after the other, after the other. I am sure there have been days like this, but not one that I have attended. in years.

By the way, Patrick made a move on Kannan that was pretty um racy going in to 1. Hear it here, IF she hits her pit marks, and IF ( a big IF) she gets good re-starts.. look out boys.. she looked the best of the AGR boys.. imho

It was GREAT! And to think, I almost did not make the trip, who would have ever thought driving 100+ miles to The Track could be considered an extravagance

But I have no regrests, even if gas was even higher, the event I was attending let me take a lap around the track , wish I had taken my Vette instead of my 98 Winstar ( This year they did it different and before I knew it I was taking a lap)

Heard Bobby Rahal speak, stood ever so close to Lynn St James * wish I would look like that at her age, err I almost am her age! Went to the Pagoda, drank free beer, ate more free food and plain had a ball.

And about that unexpected lap around The Track? as I was driving down in front of the pits, I had to think of Dick and the "Ghosts of Indy" Kind of hard to drive with your eyes misting...

Some "extravagance" must be added to get the full flavor of life. Stir in a little "speed and excitement" and bake at 78 degrees in a cloudless sky. Savor the flavor for another 11 months.

Nothing like it anywhere except INDY.

The move in 3 on Viso and the one on the frontstraight around a slower Conquest car had me doing this:

FWIW- Helio looked the best out of anybody yesterday in the top 11, IMO.

Danica ran with him on some long runs a couple times and he was almost always a full MPH faster whether she was in front or trailing.

I drove 13 hours out on Thursday night after working all day...arrived at IMS at 12:15 on Friday to watch practice and then decided to go back home that night...I arrived back home at 0545 on Saturday morning. I was up for 48 consecutive hours...all to see a mere 6 hours of practice...Indy does do some strange things with people's minds.
