  • Graham and Marco look like they are staying

I bring this up because as an IndyCar and an F1 fan I wanted some american representation in F1 someday after they win the 500 and titles.

I bring to you quotes from both in the recent RACER magazine, June 2008, no linkie, SOL

"I'm defintely happy where I am at right now. I'm in the best open-wheel seat in America at 21 years old. I'm driving for my father, and my ultimate goal is winning the Indy 500. This series and that race are what I'm focused on." - Marco Andretti

"If you get an offer from McLaren or Ferrari, of course you're going to take it. But at this point it's not interesting. Plus, I want to see where this goes. I love living here and racing here. Al lot of Europeans who come over here like it better. It's just a better atmosphere. I'd like to see where open-wheel racing can go as one series. I'm interested to see what it can become in the near future." - Graham Rahal

So for now as a fan of both series, I hope Marco and Graham can accomplish as much as possible soon right here in IndyCar ASAP so they can look at something else to challenge 5-10 years down the road. This is good news for the series that both want to stay regardless of how others feel.

Thought I would throw this quote in as well from the same issue.

"According to my legal advice, Gerry has terminated the contract I had so that makes me a free agent. I know this: I don't want to watch any more (IndyCar) races on television, I want to be in them." - Paul Tracy
"I love Indianapolis. I love the people. I love everything about it....the tradition, the history." - Dan Wheldon

    I fixed his quote.

Ahh, I don't know why I couldn't resist. I'd like to see him in them too actually. But it's not a big deal with me. There's lots of talent already.

Cool to hear the comments by Rahal and Andretti. They know the series is on the rise now.

        h ?

In my defense in the coming libel case: In a major libel decision, the Supreme Court ruled that fabricated quotations attributed to a public figure may be libelous only if the alterations materially change the meaning of what the person actually said.

Ok, I changed what he actually said but I'm not sure I changed what he means. j/k

This is a great thing to see. It is a real turn around having drivers WANT to stay in the IndyCar series. I'm lovin it.

The comments by both Marco and Graham are refreshing, and it's great to hear they want to stay and compete in the best racing series in America! These two young talents are going to win a lot of races in the ICS in the coming years.

Translation: I have no hope of landing an F1 ride, so I'll make do. Why didn't I go to GP2 instead of IRL/ChampCar?? Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.

My favourite part is the bit about "a lot of Europeans who come over here like it better"... LOL! Yeah the ones that either couldn't get into F1 or got punted from it.

It's like saying "I love being in the Canadian Football League! It's so much better than the NFL! Bigger ball, big field, and making 1/100th of the salary playing against guys who aren't the best in the world, it's fantastic!"

Is it possible that the best interpretation of those quotes would be a literal interpretation? Maybe, just maybe, they do indeed like it here.

I'm sure they do. Bourdais liked it here too.

As a driver, I would like to have some chance of good results in Indycar no matter what team I was driving for, rather than driving my heart out and getting nearly blown off the track as I was lapped by the Ferrari and Mclarens.
