Anyone remember what the record was for most cars (IndyCars) on the track at the same time in a non-race condition at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway? IIRC, from when I knew where my Carl Hugness Yearbooks, they had a fast Friday where there were more then 33 cars practicing in Happy Hour. I could be wrong though

I seem to remember at Fast Friday (although it wasn't called that then) in the early to mid 1970s where it rained and the track didn't dry until about 5:30PM. When the green light finally came on there were over 40 cars on the track at the same time. I believe the actual number may have been 43 but maybe someone here remembers for sure.

Go through the daily trackside reports for partial answers.

      For instance 1993,

41 cars and 39 drivers were on the track the Friday before Pole Day turning 2,132 laps. There were 19 yellows for 2:32.

How many at once, ask someone who was there maybe.
