As we all know, there has been ZERO buzz about Sarah Fisher on the national level the past few years. So doing the photo-op thing was Hillary Clinton yesterday was a smart move to remind the public that she's still around.
And yet, this morning driving to work I was surfing the radio dial listening to various post-primary commentary on various Washington DC stations. One commentator was recapping Hillary's day yesterday, and said:
(paraphrasing)..."while waiting out the day, she stopped by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as guest of Danica Patrick and was photographed with Patrick's race car."
The other commentator added: "Obviously, by meeting with Patrick, Senator Clinton is trying to strike a theme of 'girl power' by showing that the only female in the Indianapolis 500 is supporting the only female in the Presidential race...."
ouch.
My guess is, despite Fisher's intentions, the widely held perception among the "man-in-the-street" is simply that Clinton met with the "girl" race car driver. Which happens to be Danica Patrick.
