  • Kravitz & Eddie - Indy Radio Shows

Need to vent. How did these two knobs get a radio show? For those of you who aren't aware, Kravitz is the local sports columnist for the Indy Star and Eddie is some dude they found living under a bridge apparently. So I'm driving home from work yesterday and figure that they might actually have something interesting to say - especially since they were broadcasting from the speedway. In the span of about 40 minutes, all they managed to talk about remotely related to IMS was how Ron Hunter (IUPUI BB coach) was the honorary starter for the day. THAT WAS IT. No speeds, no discussion, nothing about yesterday's practice.

Pitiful. I switched to WNDE (JMV usually talks stick and ball sports only along with music from the 80's) - even he had more to say about it in 5 minutes. BTW, I guess JMV is going to have Robin Miller on his program regularly during the month.

Cavin's show is still the tops.

Agreed...I did the same thing yesterday. If those guys still have radio gigs by December I will be stunned. They are by far the worst sports radio hosts in this town.
I'm gonna wiggle it at 'em, you cheap b@st@rd. Be prepared, because when I yank it out, everybody in that audience except my wife is gonna be runnin' for the exits.

The only time that I've enjoyed Kravitz and Eddie is when they had Curt Cavin on.

I usually listen to JMV because he has Robin Miller on about once or twice a week and will probably have him on more often during May.

I listen to Mike and Mike (1070) on the way to work, then usually switch off of 1070 (Kravitz and Eddie) to 1260 (JMV) on the way home from work.

That is exactly my routine as well. I'll switch from JMV during commercials but yesterday expected something since they were actually at the track. JMV had Michael Young on who was really pumping up the league and the Indy 500.

          Czabe > Mike and Mike

If you want a local radio show that will basically talk about everything going on at the track, listen to Dave Wilson's show.

Just because Kravitz and Eddie are at the track doesn't mean they're going to talk about everything going on there for the whole show. I'm sure, as the month progresses, they'll have more guests and content based on the GSIR. That show has potential, but they need to get Eddie to stop screaming at everyone.....maybe give him a valium or something.

I switch back and forth between them and JMV on my short drive home from work as well.

It's a close call....but on most days I still prefer Mike & Mike. Sometimes they get old, but so does he. That's what music was invented for.

Agreed. How those two mopes ever got a radio show is one question, the second is how they've managed to keep it this long because it is grotesque

I was into the show in the beginning, but since believe the same responses by Eddie each and every day are getting old. He really doesn't know much about sports beyond the NFL and knowing some players. And the references to strip clubs and partying gets old.

As for JMV, very good knowledge of sports in the area and beyond, but lets too many idiots on the air. I really don't care to hear what a local guy feels about a given topic.

Overall however, the worst of them all is Jersey Johnny. Seriously. What a waste of air time.
I was a little bit demoralized on the last laps, but I saw on the last lap that he was driving a little bit carefully, and I thought I might be able to surprise him. It was risky, but it worked." --Alex Zanardi, 09/08/96

I need to make perfectly clear that I was never in any way associated with that abomination of a broadcaster.

Kravitz sucks. Eddie the shoe salesman is even worse.

None of the three (which make up the entirety of local talk show programming on the station) knows anything about racing, the Indy 500, or local sports besides what the national press tells them about the Colts.

I just pray it doesn't rub off on Donald Davidson this month.

Arbitron ratings came out today and even though 1070 has a 45,000 watt advantage, the old WIBC as a lead in for them, all the local sports franchises exclusively on their frequency, the local newspaper supporting them, and ESPN content, JMV totally crushed them. It will only get worse as summer comes and WNDE can keep the power up during the drive time slot and the last of WIBC's listeners get fed up with them and change the station.

                  Way to go, 1070!!!

There is nothing wrong with being associated with John. He's one of the best people you'll ever meet.

That's what he told me, too.

It took me a long time to figure out why guys I went to college with all thought I had a local radio show. I'm not that Grover.

Kravitz is one of those journalists that writes the controversial side of most issues. Everyone knows that can get people to pay attention. Like the article, (which I have never read) that he wrote about Tony Dungy. He and Eddie talk about that article everyday. Give it a rest and talk sports. I would much rather listen to JMV as well.

Kravitz has been bad on radio forever. He was on radio when he was here in Denver for a while and wasn't good.

Well, then I guess you have two people telling you that then.

I know that Grover too. Good guy as well.

I know it isn't fair because Indy doesn't have much as far as pro teams, but sports talk radio in Indy sucks. I'm glad I live near Chicago
