I think Vasserfan had a DANDY idea today:

If he does [Marty Roth win the 2008 Indy 500], all of us Marty bashers should ship $100.00 to either Brian's wish or the Hole in the Wall Camps.

So, all you bashers out there... pledge your "$100 If Marty Wins" by posting on this thread! You may specify either Brian's Wish or Hole in the Wall; your pledge will be split 50-50 if not specified.

(P.S. Also looking for a volunteer to handle the cash, as I am not associated with either group.)

If Marty finishes TOP 10: $680 pledged

If Marty finishes out of the top 10 but Running: $310 plus $.40/lap

* Hole in the Wall: $155 and $.20/lap

If Marty Starts the Race: $210 plus $.40/lap
* Brian's Wish: $105 and $.20/lap
* Hole in the Wall: $105 and $.20/lap

If Marty fails to make the race: $100
* Brian's Wish: $50
* Hole in the Wall: $50

** Bonus: If Marty is a 1st Day Qualifier: $100 in addition to any of the above results.

I wouldn't be that brave! Some average (and worse) drivers have managed top 10's in the last 25 years:

Granted, many of those came in the very unreliable engine era of the 1980's-early 90's (when simply lasting all day nearly guaranteed a top 10), and several more came at the height of the "split", when then newer generation of engines were unreliable, but still, a big wreck at the start, and I'd be awfully nervous if I were you!

This is not reasonable. Brian's Wish will go wanting then. How about if Marty makes the Indy 500? This is more realistic. How about it? Who will take this pledge?

Bruno almost won in '04 that way. He was 17th all day and then took the lead when everybody pitted. If the rain had come 10 minutes earlier, he'd be on the Borg-Warner and not Buddy Rice.....

I'm no Marty basher (as everyone is probably is aware of by now ) but I'm led to offer this: if Marty does finish in the top ten, I will gleefully donate $100 to Brian's Wish if someone will agree to do the same with Hole-In-The Wall Camps. Otherwise, I'll donate a dime for every lap he completes to both organizations.

Not a lot but the best I can do. But I hope it costs me plenty. I challenge everyone here to do the same. They're both wonderful, worthwhile charities.

Actually, that's one of my favorite charities as well. Vasserfan only mentioned the first two, but what the heck, he hasn't weighed in on this thread yet so let's say, "Brian's Wish, Hole in the Wall Camps, or any charity you list including Autism Speaks."
