Hey guys. Saw this on another site last year and I thought it would be kind of cool to bring here. Its not your typical motorsport fantasy league in where there is a salary cap, nor is it a pick em. Its more like a fantasy football style game brought to IndyCar for the Indy 500. 19 people are how many this thing can hold and I will have a signup sheet posted on a reply to this thread. There will be a draft of the drivers.
Drafting
The draft will be a snake draft, which will take place on a thread on this message board. The draft order will be randomized. Snake order means The person who gets the 1st pick also gets the 38th pick. The person who gets the second pick also gets the 37th pick. You will be the owner of a 2 car "team" that is headed into Indy. Your team will consist of the 2 drivers you select in the draft Your team name will be your board name. The draft will start on May 3rd. You have up to 8 hours to make your pick. This will last until May 7th. On May 7th if the draft isn't complete, the 8th and the 9th will bump up the time limit to make your pick. If you miss your pick the next person in line can pick. If 5 people have picked past your missed pick I will make the choice for you.
Trading
You can also trade your drivers aswell. There are 3 types of trades that can occur: 1. A driver for driver trade. IE: The person with the 2nd pick selects Dan Wheldon. The person with the fifth pick selects Danica Patrick. But, Danica qualifies 3rd, and Wheldon 7th. The person with Danica would rather have Wheldon because they feel he's a better driver and will ultimatly do better, and the person with Wheldon is dissapointed with his drivers start and wants to dump him for someone who qualified better. 2. A 2 for 1 Trade. Maybe you picked 19th, so you have 2 average drivers. You want to trade both of these drivers for a star like Dixon. You would then have just a one car team, and the other person would have a 3 car team. 3. You can also trade points. Maybe you have Danica Patrick and Want to get Tony Kanaan. You can make a trade where you trade danica + 3 points to another owner for Tony Kanaan. Now, Tony SHOULD score 3 points, but say he crashes real early, and your other driver dosent have any success, and you dont have the 3 points after race day... well the other guy still gets the 3 points you offered him, and you would go into the negatives.
Point Scoring
Race Winner - 34 points
2nd - 32 points
3rd - 31 points
all the way down to
33rd - 1
Laps Led - 2 pints
Pole - 1 point
The LL and Pole are added points to try to help the people who draft 1-5 who have less of a chance of their driver actually making the race.
To Sign up
You should be a regular on this board, or plan to during the month of may. You'll need to be able to check the draft thread occassionally and make your pick in a timely manner. After that, any trading or anything else is completely up to you and how much time you want to spend on your team.
The draft as I stated will be a thread on this board. I'm going to make a seperate website for All the Teams and the Drivers on their teams.
I think this will be really fun and I'm hoping to have a good turnout!
