He's reporting it on the the Cup side of things, but you've got to assume their IndyCar dollars would be gone too!?!?!

Why would you assume they would be out of Indycar? They were in Indycar before Nascar and IndyCar is much cheaper. Plus, they've been getting much better results in Indycar. We want to relate to Americana. I went to the Indy 500 and that was Americana. I sat in various turns and I didn’t see any champagne drinkers, but I saw a lot of beer drinkers. We appeal to the wine and cheese crowd, but we also appeal to the masses – the beer drinkers.” Randy Bernard

I just read that too. The funny thing is that the article that he linked to had nothing that mentioned Target leaving. I don't think you have to assume that the IndyCar dollars would be gone as well. I bet they're spending alot more in Nascar to be middle of the road than they are in IndyCar to be 2 of the cars to beat.

They may be getting better on-track results, but Las Vegas and a number of cup races pulled in higher ratings than the last couple Indy 500s.
Its probably a safe bet that more people saw Reed Sorenson at Texas then they did with weak attendance and a .4 rating at St. Pete.

Jayski has a throw-it-up-against-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks mindset at times. Ganassi has one Target car full-time in Cup and it isn't producing. On the ICS side they have two, one win out of 4 attempts so far this year. Target could leave Cup and remain in the ISC, or the Jayski report could be wrong. Couple that news with the claim Chip is angry with his Cup crews and it could mean something though. It's always been about the Indy 500!
I realize I have the right to remain silent, but don't have the ability or enough common sense to do so.

No wonder Chip's been in a bad mood recently. I think if he loses Target on NASCAR it's unlikely they'll stay in the IRL, unless it's Penske poaching the sponsor.
On the NASCAR side, it will be interesting to see where they go? 4th car at Gibbs, Penske or Evernham? DEI?
