  • Cheever Joining ABC Booth at 500

Just saw this on the Speed Read side of IndyCar.com

    Cheever joins Indy broadcast team

Eddie Cheever Jr., the 1998 Indianapolis 500 winner, will join former IndyCar Series driver Scott Goodyear and Marty Reid as an analyst in the booth for ESPN on ABC's broadcast of the 92nd Indianapolis 500 on May 25. He'll also be a commentator during coverage of time trials (May 10-11 and 17-18) as well as Carb Day May 23.

Jamie Little will join the pit reporter team of Jack Arute, Vince Welch and Brienne Pedigo, while Brent Musburger again will be the host of the telecast.

I'm sure old Eddie will be every bit as humble as Sugar Ray at a boxing match.

...Goodyear and Cheever in the booth together, talk about plaid pants with a dark coat.

            Well, they were teammates once...

Ought to be interesting. I welcome it, I think Eddie is probably the nearest equivalent to Sam Posey so far as being literate and well-spoken.

...that was kinda the jist of my sarcasm. Eddie with his articulate, intellectual proper-English vocabulary contrasting with Scott Goodyear's plain-Jane, 'talking-like-you-never-saw-a-race-before' over-explanations.

I too welcome Eddie in the booth, should prove to be very entertaining.
