  • So yeah, I loved that race.

I have been one of the loudest critics of the 6-6-6 garbage and all that, but hey, that was one fun race. I just got done watching it on the dvr and wow. My gf even watched it and enjoyed it. LOTS of passes and excitement. Fun fun fun.

Now, I still want at least half ovals, but if we can get streets and roads like that I'm all for it!

Not all strweet races are going to be that good though. St. Petersburg is an anomoly because it's a good circuit. I'de rather see a 50/50 spit and just St. Pete and Long Beach as the only two street races.

However, today does bode really well for us having a competitive raod racing season. Today was awesome. I can wait for the next one.

problem is not all road courses put in that airport runway so passing can occur. But I agree... this was near the level of a good oval.

I think one reason so many people are down on road course racing is the IRL has been crap at its since it started. With a short field on a road course with a car that was designed for a oval, the ones I watched last year, Watkins Glen especially, we're painfully boring.

You take a full field, a bunch of drivers who know how to move on an road/street course, and you have a much better show.

Personally I would like to see a mixture of the best ovals, the best road courses and the best street courses.

I agree that the short fields made for crappy race. And considering 1/2 of the drivers were not experianced road/street course drivers made matters worse. CCWS had the same problem with small fields. And an even larger problem was the dominance of Seabass and N/H/L. That made for some very boring races also.

I think this race proved that the merged series can make road/street course racing entertaining again. A large enough field and enough experianced drivers can make for some real action...

I'll say it again- if you liked today, you're going to like Edmonton. It's another great temporary circuit.

It's the Houstons, San Joses, Denvers, Miamis, Las Vegases that stink up the place. At least Belle Isle is aesthetically pleasing with its park setting and rivers. But those center of the city affairs with 90 degree turns and not wide enough for two cars and no decent passing zones...
