Overall I guess they thought they did the best that they could. And there was a good amount of on track action. But these timed races really aren't very fair. Graham Rahal won and congratulations to him as he did what needed to be done. But we all know there would have been another winner if the race had gone the full 100 laps like it should have since Rahal would have had to stop again while many of those following him wouldn't. The people who really got hosed were the ticket buying fans. They got hosed at the "start" by Barnhart running many scored laps under the yellow. If you can't throw the green flag then the laps SHOULD NOT COUNT. And then the paying fans got shorted once again by cutting a bunch of laps off of the end of the race as well. St. Pete should be giving pro-rated ticket refunds in the morning based on how many laps they charged the fans for but didn't deliver. You can say that television dictates and that's just fine except it seemed like there was still nearly 15 minutes of chatter before the "race" finally went off of the air. There were many laps of real racing that could and should have been run if for no other reason than the fans everywhere deserve to see every lap that it is possible to run.

I am sure that when you purchased a ticket, you should know that such things happen. So, if a ticket buyer feels shortened, he should read all the contingencies tied to the purchase. Look, how about people that attend a rain shortened race, should they get their money back?

cart/owrs/cc completed their silent take over of the IRL today by bringing in their entire format including yellow flag starts, failing to complete the advertised distance for no good reason and failing to buy enough TV time to run a complete race. If they are gonna use this "timed race" garbage then they should say so up front. Why do they leave themselves wide open by bothering with advertising race distances..

For one, the course was getting pretty dark, as there is no lights. We have had races that have started under yellow in the IndyCar Series. Try remembering Michigan Firestone Indy 400 in 2006.
I personally would had like to had seen the distance, but I got my money's worth today. Such a great race, especially for any street/road course that has every been ran in the IndyCar Series. It was very exciting. Viso up front was such a surprise.

I hate the timed races rule. That said, I don't see how it's unfair if everyone knows the rules and it applies to all racers in the event. Everyone knew the possibility of a timed event existed today."You have not converted a man because you have silenced him."

Was very uninterested, but just love Indy Car Racing, so turned it on ex the sound with about 35 laps to go. Immediately i was reminded what a joke street parades are....and then i saw the "X" minutes to go thing at the top of the screen.
Pitiful in all respects. No wonder Champ car went under.
Hope we have an oval or a road course next.....

That's some skill you have... judging the entire race 'immediately' with no sound.
Quick, what are the Lotto numbers?

the tv announcers were making it clear an hour from the end that the pit strategists were already doing the math figuring out how many laps they would run before time ran out.
please don't jaundice my view of a great victory by a great young driver with this venom. It's a brand new day.
