  • What will be most different about the races this year?

With the influx of new drivers and driving styles and general lack of oval experience by the additions, what do you feel will be the biggest difference about the course of the races this season?

    More yellows?
    Multi-car crashes?
    separate packs?
    bottlenecks across the track?
22 cars eating the dust of the 4 or 5 in front?

The traffic will make for much more exciting racing IMHO.
With traffic comes passing opportunities on an oval. 18 cars
just wasn't cutting it on the 1.5 milers. 24-25 will be
much better. And at some races - like Kansas before
Indy there could be 26-28! Come to think of it, the schedule
change to pre-Indy for Kansas was probably the best thing
that could have happened for that race.

The biggest change at the race this year is that we won't have to listen to questions asking when are the two series going to merge.

Some of the most breath taking action will probably be at the back of the pack. Should be good for the sponsors of those cars once ABC/ESPN figures that out and keeps at least 1 camera trained on that group.

yes, yes, yes, no, & no

Lots of passing lapped cars, and huge challenges getting everyone in and out of the pits at decent speeds. Kind of like Danica multiplied several times.

I believe it will be similar to when the Penske and the boys came over in 2002. You will see more blocking and accidents. These guys are going to go out there and think that oval racing is easy and that they can block and show general disregard for their competitors. It will take them a while to figure out that they need to take care of each other.

I think that BB needs to be on this like stink on ****. I think that warnings are not going to be enough. If it starts out like I think it is going to I hope to see a ton of black flags.

                      Race traffic!

And that will be a good thing.

With only 18 cars at tracks like Detroit last year, there was no working of traffic by the race leaders, this year, at the street, road courses and small ovals, there will be.

                      And it will be exciting!

I can't wait. :tg :kk -cap

Good ol' gratiutious Danica bashing. It's good that some things won't change.

Obviously, there will be more cars on track. This is good, but not unprecidented. What will be different, at least during the begining of the season, is the large number of oval rookies on track. Homestead can be a major crashfest as several drivers use the opportunity to find out what not to do on ovals. How many oval rookies will we have this year? Should be interesting.

And at Indy, vs. Unser (maybe 2 of 'em).
