  • Sarah Fisher to Compete Full Season in 2008

    Per Sarah Fisher

I would like to let you guys know that I will be announcing an exciting new sponsor Wednesday that will allow Sarah Fisher Racing to compete for the entire IndyCar schedule for 2008. I can't let you know any more details right know, but it is a major deal that has me very excited.

Whoever said nothing was impossible obviously never tried slamming a revolving door.

Has Sarah Fisher Racing confirmed that Sarah is driving for this team? I keep looking for that to be stated/clarified, but haven't seen it. I assume she is.

But, but, how could this be, with the evilly sloppy merger forcing out all those poor, helpless ex-Champ Car teams???

Rock on, Sarah; we'll watch you at Homestead!

Good news if true. Maybe Tony can give her Derrick's free cars and engines.

Makes Walker's search for sponsor rather pathetic. LOL

Or maybe some of the posters here were right. Maybe Walker indeed is just posturing for more handout. hmm.

If this is true all I can say is.... Good for her. She got tired of the BS of driving for someone else started her own team and rounded up sponsorship.

I think it is a great example of marketing and obtaining sponsorship. If you have an identity that is familiar to the masses (Sara Fisher) and fill a marketing niche (female in a male dominated sport) then some company may want to sponsor you. You still have to be professional and put your effort out there but there are sponsors. Now if you are and ordinary race team without a personality or niche then you have to work very hard to get some company to give you money.

We need an innovative points program that harkens back to the days of the relief driver. Points to the car, not the driver. So teams like the CCWS teams that have road course specialist now can hire an oval specialist to do the ovals and he IRL teams vice-versa.

They wouldn't be eligible for the driver championship, but they could make a case for the team championship. Talk about a unity builder...

cool if true, why not run Sarah on the ovals and get a driver like Barron or Tag to run the road/street courses?
