  • IMS Seating Question

Has anyone here moved from SW Vista to Stand E (not penthouse)? If so, what is the lowest row you would accept in E? Also, are you glad you moved or not? If I have it right, the low rows in the SW Vista sit up higher off the track than the low rows in Stand E. I'm thinking about how I'm going to word my ticket renewal, but don't want to end up way low in E in the event I get moved (which I realize is probably doubtful).

    Thanks!

I'd check it out during quals and see for yourself, if you can.
    It's a Hoosier thing, you wouldn't understand...

I've been trying to get an upgrade to E stand for 20 years. Good Luck!

I had been trying to move from SW Vista to E for a while. However, a while back I made my way up to the SW Vista Deck, and that's good for me, so I quit trying for now.

Unlike say the Colts, IMS has a system I call "little old ladies".

I always put a note on my renewal that says something like "I've got two other seats in the SW Vista, Sec. W, Row X, Seats Y and Z. If you can put me close to these great. If not, don't move me."

They've always come through for me.

I should try that. It would sound like the following: "I've got one seat in Stand E Penthouse, Row A, Section4, Seat 3. If you can move my eleven close to that, great. If not, don't move me."

I can hear them laughing now!

This is box 9, row K, from my Indianapolis Motor Speedway Seating Guide. Looks like you could go lower than that and still be okay.

I just got upgraded this year from SW Vista Row HH to SW Vista Deck. In my opinion, the SW Vista seats up high are better than the E Stand tickets. I have the whole South end of the track in view from there.

I would like to get E-stand penthouse , though.

I noticed last year, the E-stand seats closer to the short-chute are not as "good" as they used to be due to the building of the F1 garages. It cut out quite a view of the entrance to turn one. Just my own opinion as I had not been in that area for several years during qualifications. I think I will stay in turn 3.....

Over the years, I kept getting higher and higher in the SW Vista. Eventually I was in the second to the top highest regular row, i think it was row QQ. Every year (before the days of online renewal) I kept asking for an upgrade...higher, and higher. Finally, they got me up into the SW Vista deck...row A (front row). It's amazing. A very noticable difference from the regular "box" seats. Even though previously we had been high up, I still always felt crowded in my own seat. And people's heads getting in the way all the time. Up in the deck, we havetons of breathing room. And since I'm in the front row of the deck, I'll never have anyone's head in the way.

In fact, flyingpylon has pictures i sent from my seats on his site there...

I now know where I am aiming next time I get to go.

                          Those look GREAT!!!

Im guessing those seats can get a little TOOCLOSE to the action at times

Yes, you would be correct. Personally I think the most common wall impacts occur where Stand E ends and SW Vista begins.

those Row K tickets look great to me!

And you jokers who got upgraded to SW Vista Deck, how many seats do you hold?

I sat on the front row of E one time back in the day when the seats went clear to the wall. The seats were, in a word, "terrifying".. outstanding reality of speeds in E, but frankly I think SWV has a better overall view. I think I'd take high in SWV over low in E. Just my opinion.

Frankly I prefer the NEV, I have top row there and the view is spectacular,
