I think the point is, every driver gets a little fear struck in them after their first 1 on 1 session with Mr. Concrete. It may slow him down a notch. I will agree with you though, this kid is a pure talent. He showed he can run with the big boys on ovals in Chicago last year and that he can handle the roads. We might finally have our first Jananese winner. For Honda's sake, Motegi would be a great place for it to happen!
What Gasoline Alley said..............Some drivers are never the same after hitting walls. He was fast last year and looks fast this year but it's still just testing. If he won at Motegi Japan would declare a National Holiday. They really support their drivers...........

He has the champions car. If he doesnt do well its awful
Have you seen a crew list? How do you know he didn't get Marco's old sled and Marco got Dario's car and crew? Did the check from Honda of Japan stipulate he was to get everything that Dario had?
My thoughts too. Rookies are always fast until the first time they meet Mr. Concrete (as you put it). Some stay fast after that, others do not. :racer:

Josele Garza was a fast youngster until he met the concrete. .
I've yet to notice Mutoh doing anything that would
cause him to meet Mr. Concrete. Even under late braking
into T1 on the IMS road circuit, he never locked the wheels.

Not always a driver's error that leads into the wall. Davey Hamilton was put into the fence at Texas by an equipment failure. Came back reasonably well last year.
How come nobodies asked about Art Sugai's car?
Probably can't recognize the driver! Rick Mears
He looked good at Homestead and Sebring, he qualified and raced well at Chicagoland, what's not to like?
It's always been about the Indy 500!
I realize I have the right to remain silent, but don't have the ability or enough common sense to do so.
