  • Roth bashers take note!

Those of you that bash Marty Roth repeatedly should note that his and Jay Howard's times so far at Sebring have been pretty respectable.

?? Marty's still 1.5 seconds off of best time...and 3/10s off next slowest time of Ed Carpenter.

      That's not particularly impressive....

      I will Jay's doing ok.

I'll say the same thing as when they talk about evaluating drivers. They don't pay money for testing, the pay for racing, let's see what they do when they race.

Marty Roth is a rich guy who started his own team with himself in one car and Jay Howard in the other. http://www.rothracing.com/ He gets bashed pretty good at times for being too slow. Well deserved at times.

I dont think anyone is implying that Marty's test has been impressive but it is pretty respectable for a brand new team.

              What place is "pretty respectable"?

Problem being is that they test better than they race for the most part.

Hey...any comments I make about Marty being slow are definitely tempered by respect, or maybe envy, that Marty's out there pursuing the racing dream and my slow butt isn't.

Good for him, however, its just testing.

According to many here (anti-podium contingency), there is no such thing as "pretty respectable"... If second is really "the first loser", then there should be no more congratulatory posts for "respectable" or "decent" showings...
Unless there is some dual set of standards that I missed...

Marty should put his dream aside and live the dream as an owner. He is an interesting chap who would be doing himself and the sport a favor by getting behind the wall. Wade Cunningham could use the ride.
