Ok, it was proposed on tv the other night that they might change the banking and possibly enlarge Fontana to make it a restrictor plate track for the Cup guys. So how would Indy cars look on a modified track?
I'm from a place called the internet. Nothing disturbs me.

Milka would be falling off the banking.

Honestly, I don't think the additional banking is going to happen.

Depends how much baning the add. California is based on MIS in design will less banking. that being said Fontana is much smoother than MIS is. CART was lapping around 240mph in the late 90s there. Now if they made it a plate track then it would be far to dangerous for indycars to race on the oval. the only way you could run them there then would on the roadcourse.

        Fast.

I'm not sure how the drivers and the equipment would deal with the changes though. It could increase the G loading a little too much. Someone would have to run some scenarios and then do a lot of real world testing before putting on a 500 mile race there.

...I think changing the banking at Fontana would be a dumb idea. But it like Michigan are pretty much Cup-only tracks now as I believe the chances of the ICS returning to Fontana or MIS are very slim at best. In fact after hearing TG's comments yesterday I believe we better embrace and fully support each & every oval race currently on the schedule as I don't think we're going to see any more added for quite awhile.

I think Indycars were plenty fast on the existing Fontana track. It was the folks in the stands we needed more of.

The only renovation that Fontana is going to see is when it gets plowed in in ten years.
